Family-to-Family (F2F)

The Family-to-Family (F2F) scheme is being launched in response to the catastrophic man-made humanitarian crisis in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. F2F will support vulnerable populations of Tigray affected by the war. By committing to support through the F2F, you are saving lives of many families. Since beginning of November 2020, the Ethiopian Government waged war on Tigray and its people. The Tigray war is the largest and most brutal war the World is witnessing today involving the combined forces of Ethiopia Defense Forces, Amhara forces and militia; and the Eritrean Defense Forces against the Tigray Defense Forces. The International community and media have confirmed the ongoing ethnic cleansing, heinous atrocities and destruction of Tigray’s economy and food system-all constituting to the acts of war crimes and genocide. Despite pressure of the international com-munity for withdrawal of the Eritrean forces, the people of Tigray are still suffering under the occupation of external forces of Eritrea and Amhara.

Civilians have been subjected to widespread massacres, door-to-door killings, weaponized rape and sexual violence, weaponized mass starvation, ethnic profiling and ethnic cleansing. Tigray’s economy has been systematically decimated by indiscriminate shelling, drone attacks and deliberate destruction and looting of public facilities (health, education,..), factories, infrastructures, heritages, churches, mosques, etc. Food reserve and seeds have either been looted or deliberately burnt; and livestock either slaughtered or trekked out of Tigray.

Banks, electricity and internet have been disrupted for months. As a result, >63,000 have fled as refugees to Sudan and 1.7 million people are internally displaced. About 91% (5.2 of the 5.7 million people) need humanitarian assistance. About 4 million of those people are in need of food assistance. People are dying in hundreds due to starvation. Food aid is systematically being prevented from reaching the needy.

Farmers are being prevented from farming and missing the next rainy season risks millions of people to famine with long-term consequences. Therefore, the Tigrayan diaspora have decided to embark this F2F scheme to at least provide the affected population with the minimum.

Objective:
1. To connect and enable foundations and NGOs, Tigrayan families and friends of Tigray with families of the population affected by the war in Tigray to support them with monthly contributions.
2. Prevent the affected population from displacement and avert mortalities due to starvation; and enable farmers continue their farming livelihood
3. Empower families by creating strong bond between the two families (donor and receiver) and create resilient society that enables women and children access stable social services.
